01 · The challenge
What actually goes wrong in a real term
Not every student in a school necessarily takes exactly the same subjects. A school may have different departments or subject combinations, particularly at higher class levels.
JSS classes take general subjects, but SSS classes split into science, art and commercial departments. If there is no clear system rule, chaos reigns — the results officer has to manually delete "Literature in English" from a Science student's report card, or a Commercial student gets an overall class position dragged down by a Chemistry class they never took.
Timetables suffer from the same lack of structure: a coordinator accidentally schedules "Financial Accounting" for an Art class that does not offer it, and the clash is only discovered on Monday morning when two teachers walk into the same room.
